Metropolitan Police have confirmed that an explosion at Parsons Green tube station this morning was caused by an improvised explosive device. Investigations are underway and the counter terrorism unit of the Metropolitan Police is involved.
With 22 people treated in hospital this morning, mostly with flash burns PM Theresa May stated that the device was clearly devised to cause significant harm whilst thanking the emergency services for their professionalism and bravery.
Police are at present looking to identify the person responsible and there is a heavy police presence throughout the London Transport System for this evening’s rush hour traffic.
The Terror Threat Level in the UK has been held at Severe meaning a terrorist attack is “highly likely”.
Police Scotland have stated that there is no specific intelligence to indicate a threat to Scotland at this time but have asked the public to remain alert but not alarmed.
