In Room 2 on the infant side of The Community School of Auchterarder there has been a buzz going about as Mr Dowling and his pupils got ready for a very special occasion. Today was the start of the Oor Wullie Bucket Trail in Auchterarder.
In partnership with DC Thomson and The Ruthven Gallery P1D have been preparing their bucket trail with each pupil in the class getting their own Oor Wullie statue to design and create. These statues have then been placed in varying places throughout the town ready for the intrepid explorer to find.
Additionally there will be 2 of the original statues from the original trail hosted by The Community School of Auchterarder and The Ruthven Gallery
Utilising this project as a stepping stone in learning about the Scots language, the trail will also be raising money for both the school and the ARCHIE Foundation.
Having basically stalked Mr Dowlings class twitter feed to get this information, I am happy to say I can verify that there is a varied selection of designs with Minecraft Wullie, Cinderella Wullie, tennis and rugby represented.
Tomorrow when I am about the town, I intend going and hunting down every one of these statues. I have it from a reliable source that the place to start the trail is Café Bianco. I may need to have a breakfast first to set me up for the trail.
This looks like being a fabulous way to spend the morning getting to know the local community better. Keep an eye on twitter Mr Dowling – I will make sure you have updates to show the class so they can see how I get on.
