Today was decision time as Strathallan Decides came to the Aytoun Hall. Perth and Kinross Council with community partners have created a fund for groups who have an idea which needs seedcorn funding. Today people came along and listened to each of the projects so they could decide which group they felt deserved the available funding.
The groups were –
The Friendship Well – This group aims to bring people together to provide peer support to those who could benefit from improving their wellbeing. People who have faced similar situations can offer friendship and support to enhance wellbeing through sharing stories, enjoying each other’s company and finding out about local events and activities.
Defibrillator Installation in Dunning – The Dunning Community Council would like to adopt the unused BT phone box in Dunning and install a defibrillator in it to provide a potential life-saving opportunity for the whole village.
The Improvement of Oak Walk – This project will improve parts of the Oak walk to make it more accessible to a wider variety of people. The group plans to improve some of the worst wet areas by adding stepping stones or gravel. They will also introduce a bench or two for resting or admiring the scenery and wildlife.
Aberuthven Community Recreation Project – This project will support the development of the rural community to meet needs which are currently not being met in the form of a “Community Hub” within the village. By taking a community engagement approach, we hope to increase community participation and develop recreational services to meet the needs of our community members of all ages.
Hear To Help – The funding will be used to recruit and train three new volunteers to deliver hearing aid maintenance within community, home, local care home or residential settings across Strathearn.
CAP Debt Relief Programme – This funding will be used to establish a CAP Debt centre offering hope and help to people in Strathearn and Strathallan who are feeling weighed down by debt. Trained debt counsellors will work out a realistic budget prioritising essential bills and attempting to stop unfair interest and charges where possible.
Auchterarder Town Bus – This project will undertake market research into need and user preferences for the establishment of a town bus circulating Auchterarder. This research would seek to establish likely usage, preferred fare structure and economic viability.
Perth Autism Support Outreach – The Outreach Project aims to replicate the services and activities that Perth Autism Support provides for young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families in the more rural areas of Perth and Kinross.
Aberuthven Village Hall Pensioners Christmas Lunch – This project will organise a Christmas lunch, with refreshments in December 2017 for pensioners in the village and those who cannot work due to ill health. A meal will also be delivered to those who are housebound and don’t feel that they can come to the Village Hall Event.
Additional Support Needs Boccia Club
The Boccia club is open to all pupils but specifically targets pupils with a disability who may be excluded from certain after school sports clubs. It is open to primary and secondary pupils in the area.
After all the groups had made their presentation the votes were collected and counted. All those who applied were worthy projects and to be commended. Those who were awarded funding were –
Perth Autism Support Outreach
Auchterarder Town Bus Group
Aberuthven Community Recreation Project
Congratulations to all.
