Perth & Kinross Council and the 2019 Solheim Cup have joined forces to run a competition to encourage businesses based in Perth and Kinross to show their support for the bi-annual event.
This activity will showcase our area to the 100,000 spectators attending this major international sporting event, which will be beamed to 600 million homes across the world from 9 to 15 September 2019. It also represents an opportunity to promote sport, particularly golf, to women, girls and families across the area.
This competition aims to recognise businesses within Perth and Kinross that have developed public-facing displays, celebrating the area hosting the 2019 Solheim Cup. This may include window dressing or premises displays and winners will be assessed on creativity, use of materials and resources, and visual impact. The prize, generously donated by IMG, the event management company, is £250 cash for a team building exercise or celebration event.
Businesses across Perth and Kinross are encouraged to take advantage of the toolkit of free Solheim Cup publicity materials provided by Perth & Kinross Council. It’s hoped those in Perth city centre and town centres across the area will enjoy many eye-catching window displays that celebrate the prestigious golf tournament’s imminent arrival.

Colourfully dressed shops and businesses
Provost of Perth and Kinross Dennis Melloy said: “We are looking for entrants who have decorated their businesses with golfing themes in the spirit of the Solheim Cup. I am looking forward to seeing an array of Solheim Cup themed, colourfully dressed shops and businesses, featuring warm welcoming messages to our visitors and celebrating the momentous occasion.
Prestigious sporting events
Councillor Murray Lyle, Leader of Perth & Kinross Council, added: “Support across Perth and Kinross for the 2019 Solheim Cup event has been fantastic. As we look towards September, and hosting one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events, I hope many people will join me in showing their support for the Solheim Cup and the PING Junior Solheim Cup.

The ethos of the 2019 Solheim Cup is to be inclusive and family-oriented. . This commitment is backed up by making entry tickets free for all children and young people 16 and under, who are accompanied by a paying adult.
