One of the biggest plastic problems in the world is single use water bottles. It is astonishing in this area that we would need to buy bottles of water considering the fantastic quality of tap water available.
Refill is a national, practical tap water campaign that aims to make refilling your bottle as easy, convenient and cheap as possible by introducing refill points on every street.
We know water fountains can be expensive to install and maintain, so now friendly cafes, shops, hotels and businesses are welcoming you in to refill your water bottle – for free! Refill is currently happening around the UK.
It works by participating businesses putting a sticker in their window, alerting passers-by to the fact they’re welcome to come on in and fill up their bottle – for free! Information is also available on an app.
Ms Roseanna Cunningham MSP, Member of the Scottish Parliament for the Perthshire South & Kinross-shire constituency, has registered her constituency office with the app. The office is now the first venue in Perth to be registered with the app and she is encouraging others in the city and across Scotland to follow suit.
Speaking on Tuesday Ms Cunningham said “The Refill app is a great idea and, while I am happy for my constituency office to be the first in Perth to be registered as a refill spot, I hope it won’t be long before I am followed by many more.”
At present there are no premises registered with the app in Auchterarder but hopefully that will change in the near future as we all make efforts to reduce plastic use.
