Gleneagles Hotel Owners Ennismore held a public exhibition this week showing the proposals for a new development on Easterton Farm which they purchased from the previous owners within the last few years.
This development consists of self-catering lodges and luxury camping accommodation alongside events space with food and drinks outlets also included. There is also a proposal for some residential units within the site although these are envisaged at the opposite end of the site from the resort.
With the emphasis on rustic rather than richness this resort will be an experience somewhat different from that of a stay at The Gleneagles Hotel. The proposed accommodations will be based at the rear of the site away from the access road and it is hoped the resort itself is to be car free. With luxury lodges, tepees and tents this will be the ideal place to explore the Perthshire countryside. There will also be the opportunity to take some lessons in survival skills such as shelter building within the resort.
With a central hub housing reception and events space, there is also to be a separate county pub away from the main area which will be reached by walking through the resort. A small retail area showcasing local crafters is also a possibility.
With the construction of the resort envisaged in phases, one of the main concerns of the team is that the buildings and the resort are a sympathetic as possible to the surrounding area, with building materials matching the palette of the local countryside.
This exhibition was in line with requirements for a Proposal of Application Notice and there will be further information as the application itself is prepared.
