After more than 15 years of surveys, questions and pleas to Perth and Kinross Council, Auchterarder may finally be getting additional parking.
An application for planning permission has been placed with Perth and Kinross Council for an additional 19 car parking spaces in the centre of Auchterarder.
The spaces will be at the back of Waverly House with access through the back of the car park with the removal of two of the current LGV spaces.
Local residents and business owners are relieved to hear that there may at last be a solution to a problem that has plagued the town for decades. One local resident stated “The Council have allowed for hundreds of houses to be built without putting in any additional facilities for the community. At least now new residents may be able to park and enjoy their local High Street.”
A local business owner added “It’s great to see some movement in what has become a problem recognised throughout the area. We have some local residents who don’t even try to come to their local shops because of parking difficulties. Hopefully this will allow more people to enjoy the beautiful Auchterarder High Street.
Hopefully as Perth and Kinross Council are both the applicant and the planning authority, permission will be received in a short timescale allowing works to commence as soon as possible.
