Auchterarder and District Community Council member Malcom Scobie, who represents the Aberuthven area has been found guilty of assaulting his wife and acting in a threatening or abusive manner.
In April this year, Mr Scobie and his wife were having what was described as a violent row in their home at Main Road, Aberuthven. It was during this row that Mrs Scobie was pushed by her husband, causing her to lose her footing and fall down the stairs.
The row came about because of Mrs Scobie’s belief that her husband was having an affair with another woman. As the row escalated, Mrs Scobie poked her husband in the back with her finger as she was following him upstairs. This action caused him to turn and retaliate by pushing her which resulted in her falling down the stairs.
The couple has since separated with Mr Scobie moving out of the marital home.
Sheriff Lindsay Foulis stated that he was satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that Mr Scobie had assaulted his wife resulting in her injury. Mr Scobie was fined £750.
