A new one-stop online information portal designed to support the health and wellbeing of people in Perth and Kinross – www.YourCommunityPK.org – was officially launched last week.

The website, developed by Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership, features an extensive directory of local clubs, community organisations, charities, societies, sports activities, care and support agencies, advice and information groups, family activities, child care services, community assets such as parks, town halls and much more.

It aims to give people easy access to information in one place, so they can lead healthy and active lives in their local communities. Information about health and wellbeing consultations and events happening around Perth & Kinross is also available.

People who run an organisation, a social club, a local community group, or have an event or an activity they want to let people know about they can submit a listing on the Your Community PK website.

Rob Packham, Chief Officer of the Perth & Kinross Health & Social Care Partnership, said: “People were telling us that they were having trouble finding information about what was available in their community. There was information out there, but it was in a lot of different places.

“Thanks to the hard work by staff and partner organisations our new website www.YourCommunityPK.org brings all that local information together in one place for the first time.”

Linda Dunion, Chair of the Perth & Kinross Health & Social Care Partnership’s Integration Joint Board, stated: “We want to let people know about the different sources of health and wellbeing that are available in their communities. This local search engine will provide opportunities for people to receive the required care, support, advice or information they need to live a healthy and independent life.

“As of the time of the launch the website has over 700 listings in the directory over the five different localities and five different categories, and this will continue to grow all the time.

“We want to empower local people to help themselves, and also give community organisations additional chances to develop and flourish. We hope the site will be used and enjoyed by people and organisations right across Perth and Kinross. The more it is used, the more valuable it will become.”

Helen MacKinnon, Chief Officer of the Third Sector Interface at PKAVS, added: “YourCommunityPK is an excellent piece of partnership work with the voluntary sector and showcases the wealth of information and support available within our communities.

“As well as helping people to find the right support more easily, it also shares important information on developments in health and social care and how you can be involved in community conversations in your area.”
