The blend, which has been extra-matured in the finest sherry casks from Spain, has been making a splash in the industry for its excellent quality and delicious flavour profile. IWSC’s panel of handpicked industry experts judged the expression following a rigorous two-stage judging process, ensuring a considered approach to tasting is adhered to for each and every product.
The expression impressed judges with its sweet spicy notes mixed with hints of fresh barley and marzipan, coupled with its silky sweetness. The whisky is then finished in sherry butts for a minimum of 9 months. The smoothness of the oak and subtle hints of smoke work perfectly together to create a high-quality product which wowed the judges.

This is the second time Highland Queen’s range has been recognised at the prestigious awards – last year, Highland Queen’s 1561 Blended Scotch Whisky received the silver accolade. 2017 has been a highly successful year for the sherry finish blend which has also been awarded gold in The Spirits Business Awards and silver at the International Spirits Challenge.
The prestigious International Wine & Spirit Competition is now in its 48th year and is recognised for its unique tasting methods which are based not just on organoleptic judgement as all entries also had to undergo chemical analysis.
