Gleneagles Hotel has today been the scene of a robbery at it’s prestigious Mappin and Webb store.
As can be seen from the photographs the police are still on site and arriving guests are having to pass through a police cordon to check in.
Gleneagles Hotel has confirmed that they are working with Police Scotland and that no guests or staff were injured.
Jamie Buchan of The Courier has reported that police are examining a car thought to be the getaway vehicle at Gleneagles.
Sources suggest that the perpetrators tried to escape in a vehicle which has been found on the grounds. There are also suggestions that the items stolen may have been left behind in the vehicle as the suspects fled on foot.
