Sunday night was Valentines night for us, we had managed to book the Sunday night offer at the Huntingtower Hotel in Perth. The offer included afternoon tea, dinner, bed and breakfast for 2 for only £89, £99 in March. An offer that couldn’t be missed, especially because I do love my afternoon tea.
Checking in just after 2pm we were given the keys to our room and headed up the stairs. To say we were impressed is an understatement. Having stayed the previous night in a hotel in Glasgow which was rather shabby, it was a delight to arrive in our room and find the facilities to be way better and the staff exceptional.
Our room was on the first floor on the side of the building and it was beautiful as you can see from the picture. With views out over the grounds and plenty of space to sit and relax it was the perfect way to start our time together.
After a welcome cup of tea in the room we headed for afternoon tea. Our tea was brought promptly, closely followed by the three tier cake stand with sandwiches, scones with butter, jam and whipped cream and 4 different confections. Tea refills and much eating later we retired to relax after a busy weekend.
Dinner was next and it was definitely a highlight. He had the lamb, I had the chicken, both of which were beautifully presented and deceptively large portions. The apple crumble we had for afters was not what we expected but kudos to the chef for a twist on an old favourite which was inspired.
The hotel has retained many of the original features of the house which seem to help in the feeling of quiet relaxation. Soft carpets, wood panelling and discreet service give an air of relaxation that is deceptive, time seems to go so slowly, one night seems like so much more.
At first it seemed strange staying in a hotel so close to home, now however I would happily return on a regular basis.
Our early Valentines was one of the best ever, I hope your Valentines is just as good.
