Local Residents have a final opportunity to have a say on the future development of their towns tomorrow. The draft Local Development Plan has been approved by Perth and Kinross Council and is now in the final stages of consultation.
Tomorrow, Thursday 7th December there is an event in the Aytoun Hall from 3pm to 8pm for local residents to view the plan and ask questions about it.
Things like parking provision, recreational facilities, opening the road from the new roundabout to the new development at Kirkton etc are all questions that can be asked. This is the last chance for changes to be made to this plan. It is vitally important that if you wish to have your views heard on the future of your town that you do so before the closing date in February.
As the plan was based on an infrastructure report that seems to have a number of inaccuracies it is in the best interests of local residents to make representations now.
The information regarding Auchterarder states that the Development Framework of 2008 provides a structured approach to the development of large areas of housing land. This is the same Development Framework which stated that there should be 76 new parking spaces in the town by 2015.
The access road for the new development at Kirkton was originally planned to be opened at the beginning of development. It now appears that the road is not to be opened for another two years. Meaning that all traffic will still be using Hunter Street throughout this time.
Unless there are representations by local people this plan will stand as is and Auchterarder, Aberuthven, Blackford and Dunning will have no recourse in later years as development continues without infrastructure improvements the communities badly need.
