Would you like to be part of the future of Auchterarder and the local area? Would you like to have your voice heard and the voices of your neighbours and peers?
Auchterarder and District Community Council are required to hold a by-election due to insufficient numbers. If you would like to get involved in helping the local community now is your chance.
Did you know that Community councils have a statutory right to be consulted on planning applications, licensing matters and more?
Information on Perth and Kinross Council website states – “Community Councils are there to be the voice of local communities and articulate views and concerns of local people in their area on a wide range of issues of public concern and make representations to their council, other public sector bodies and private agencies on matters within their sphere of interest.”
A recent survey by the Association of Scottish Community Councils identified over 1,000 different activities which community councils have undertaken. These included road improvements, youth projects, environmental initiatives, upgrading of amenities and community initiatives. In addition to this, there are any number of activities which they can become involved in which might benefit their area, either working on their own or in partnership with other agencies.
For anyone interested in the future of their community this is an opportunity to be involved in decisions affecting your area.
If you would like to put yourself forward to become a Community Councillor you can do that by completing a By-Election Nomination Form and returning it to PKC before 4pm on Thursday 7th March.
At present there are 4 places available for the Auchterarder area and 1 place available for the Aberuthven area. If there are more nominations received than spaces available a by-election will be held on Thursday 4 April 2019.
