Last night a project involving The Community School of Auchterarder and the Auchterarder Community Partnership received the “Improving Services Through Partnership” award at the Secure the Future Awards in Perth.
The project was the initiated by Mark Stewart one of the Guidance Principle Teachers at the school and involved pupils from the school and local businesses working together to benefit each other in a variety of ways. When asked this morning about the award Mark explained “Although I led the project it was a joint effort that involved the Auchterarder Community Partnership which consists of some local businesses in particular Tiny Touch and D&R Johnston, Will Rich our Acting PT for Design, Engineering and Technology, and some of our pupils.”
Involvement with the ACP has given the pupils a real world context for project work to deliver SQA skills. Interviews, work experience, networking, all help pupils prepare for the world of work. ACP members have benefited from the technological skills and modern outlook of the students.
The project continues with pupils and businesses working on a 1-1 basis developing social media profiles and eventually bespoke websites.
Congratulations are due to all concerned with such a positive project and we look forward to seeing the results in the months ahead.
