The Boundary Commission for Scotland has published its revised proposals for new Parliament Constituencies. These proposals have been put forward for an 8 week consultation period until 11 December.
The Ochil and South Perthshire constituency has undergone quite a change in the new proposals with a name change to Stirlingshire and South Perthshire. The proposed boundary changes mean that Auchterarder and District will be included with the majority of the present Stirling constituency. Stirling itself will be separate but the boundary will include Dunblane, Callendar, Doune all the way West to include Balmaha, Strathblane and Drymen. Alloa, Tillicoultry and Alva have been removed from the proposed constituency.
These changes will mean that although Auchterarder and District will still be run by Perth and Kinross Council, the Westminster MP will be representing an area of two halves. The electorate numbers are relatively evenly split with 34,648 from Perth and Kinross and 36,651 from Stirling.
