Auchterarder Primrose Player of the Decade Awarded – Eventually

Mr. David Stewart an 80 year old great grandfather last night received his player of the decade 1960 to 1970 award. David, better known as “The Sheriff” for the way he marshalled the midfield recently underwent successful knee surgery and jokingly suggested he may attend pre season training for season 2020.

David was a military conscript who served in the Royal Signals and represented Scotland on behalf of the British Legion at golf. He served with team mate Peter McGraw who was Blackford Allanvale’s leading goal scorer during the same period. Peter stated: ” much of my success in scoring was down to The Sheriff’s hard work and ability to read two or three steps ahead of the opposition, he’s waited a long time for this thoroughly deserved award”

Recent renovations at the old clubhouse uncovered one of his original boots he wore as a teenager in the fifties. The presentation took place at the Golf Inn in Auchterarder to a unsuspecting Mr. Stewart.
