Auchterarder angling club was established in 1950 and soon benefited from the generosity of a keen salmon fisher and local farmer the late Ronnie Robertson.
He allowed the club to use his own stretch of the river Earn on the proviso that the fishing would always be accessible for local anglers. This sentiment is still held strong today through the Robertson family of Nether Fordun farm and this allows the club to continue to offer affordable Game fishing for Salmon, Sea-trout, Brown trout and Grayling to the local community.
In late 2017 the club applied for funds from the Auchterarder Swimming pool fund and with the money gifted and considerable contributions from members a new modern fishing hut was erected. The new hut allows club members a comfortable place to dine and relax when not fishing.
Club membership is open to all, and members may also bring their children/Grandchildren down to fish as free junior membership is available up to the age of 18.
With an abundance of wildlife to observe it is not only a very relaxing and picturesque environment to fish in but can be most educational, especially when watching the Ospreys, Otters, Kingfishers and other wildlife going about their daily business. The annual membership is only £130 per year and with the species available it gives the opportunity for year-round local fishing. Being only a 5-minute drive out of the village members can quickly and easily find themselves being able to fish after work or dinner, especially possible during the long summer evenings.
Anyone wishing to enquire about becoming a member please contact the Club Secretary Mr Lawrence Crompton-Howe via email, firstname.lastname@example.org .
