Young people in Perth and Kinross have achieved well across a range of measures in their exams in 2017. Early indications are that candidates have sustained good performances in many areas.
Pupils in Perth and Kinross were awarded 2534 National 4 awards achieving a 88.6% pass rate and 6137 National 5 awards achieving an 80.5% pass rate. 45% of S4 pupils achieved 5 or more awards at National 5 level, equalling the highest level that has been seen since the introduction of the new qualifications.
At Higher (SCQF Level 6) qualifications, pupils in Perth and Kinross were awarded 3533 passes achieving a 74.6% pass rate, while at Advanced Higher (SCQF Level 7) there were 523 passes across our schools, with a pass rate of 75.8%. For those completing their S6 year, the number attaining 1, 3 or 5 or more Highers is the highest level seen over the last 7 years.
Lifelong Learning Convener, Councillor Caroline Shiers said: “I am delighted for the pupils in Perth and Kinross who will be celebrating today as they receive their exam results. With the support of their teachers, parents and carers, the young students have worked tremendously hard over the school term to achieve these results and they should be very proud of themselves.”
