Broadslap Fruit Farm Cafe

Quite a few years ago, one of the local fruit farms started to offer “pick your own” from their farm.  I remember going there when my daughter was small and letting her learn that strawberries were low down and raspberry plants could give you a nasty scratch but it was all worth it for the flavour.

Broadslap Fruit Farm has changed quite considerably since then and I had seen signs for a coffee shop as I drove past a couple of weeks ago.  Returning from Perth towards Auchterarder I was on the right side of the dual carriageway for Dunning, what more reason do you need to go visit a new coffee shop?

The Dunning road itself isn’t exactly huge and then when you turn off at the signpost for Broadslap you realise just how far into farmland you have come.  It doesn’t take long before the views more than make up for the single track road, which does have a decent surface at least.

As you come over the crest of the hill you can see the farm shop and café nestled in a hollow below.  With ample parking and surrounded by farmland so you can pick your own, it is easy to see why Broadslap has become so popular in recent years.

As usual I settled for tea and scone which as you can see from the picture was a generous portion and very reasonably priced.

The café now has a full menu from breakfast to burgers and various points in between.  As well as being the farm shop, it also holds goods from local producers and artists making it a great place for real souvenirs as opposed to something mass produced outside Scotland, never mind Perthshire.

I will definitely be back, in fact with that view from my seat, I may relocate the office.

If you do visit please say hi to the staff and let them know you read about them here on Lang Toon Times.
